Dr. Donata Störmer

Donata has been working as a lawyer since 2011 and has been a specialist attorney for copyright and media law since 2018.
She advises national and international companies and start-ups on all aspects of trademark, design, copyright and unfair competition law. She counsels in particular on the protection of intellectual property and know-how. Her practice area also includes the management of international IP portfolios, advising on trademark and filing strategy, drafting and negotiating license and coexistence agreements, representing clients in proceedings before the German and European trademark Offices, the national and international, judicial and extrajudicial enforcement of intellectual property rights as well as defending clients against infringement claims.
Another focus of Donata’s work is the whole spectrum of media and entertainment law. In this area of law, she advises, among others, companies, institutions and individuals from the music, film, television, advertising and entertainment industries as well as from the areas of art and culture. In addition, Donata advises publishers, companies, celebrities and other high profile individuals on matters concerning press law, rights of privacy and publicity, including crisis communication and reputation management. Moreover, Donata’s practice includes the drafting and negotiation of complex contractual relationships in the field of media and entertainment law. Donata also advises companies and start-ups on data protection law.
Donata studied law with a focus on media law at the Georg-August Univesität in Göttingen and at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. She completed her legal clerkship at the Berlin Court of Appeal with a stage in a law firm in New York. She then started working as an attorney at the law firm SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte in Berlin while completing her PhD in art law. From 2012 to 2015, Donata worked as an attorney at the international law firm Hogan Lovells in Hamburg and Tokyo. From 2015 to 2021, she worked as an attorney at IRLE MOSER Rechtsanwälte, last as a salary partner.
